COLLAGE SPARKS - A BUNDLE OF FOUR POPULAR FULL-LENGTH WORKSHOPS THAT WILL JUMPSTART YOUR COLLAGE-MAKING

PAPER ALCHEMY

This is an experimental workshop where we will be transforming regular paper into one-of-a-kind papers for mixed media and collage art. We will explore several techniques to alter and create an assortment of unique papers for collage and mixed media.

WARM-UPS

How do you get started? How do you deal with a creative block?

When you learn piano, you practice scales. When you learn penmanship, you practice your letters. We are going to put the “practice” into our mixed media art practice with warm ups to stretch the creative muscles. These fun exercises will allow you to play, work intuitively, and just start creating.

MARKMAKING SAMPLER

An artist’s marks are as individualized as our fingerprints. In this session, we will explore how to create a lexicon of marks so we have a reference point. Marks can add color, pattern, value, texture, and interest to our mixed media work. And, just about anything can be used to make marks. Plus, we’ll go on a treasure hunt around the house, the garage, even the trash bin, to find unique markmaking tools.
